Four Ways You Can Help NOW!
|
|
¢
Become a sponsor!
Help with the costs of producing the best auction in town.
Corporate and Media sponsors welcome and will get
their logo on print material and a free ad in the program for the auction depending on
the amount of the gift. Contact
Laura Kirby
to become a sponsor and find out how you can get free
tickets to the Auction!
¢
Underwrite add-ons to
other donations. Allow us to add airfare, meal money
or rental car to a trip someone else donated, cover the cost
of framing a work of art, again, be creative! Contact
Tracey
to help make a great donation even better!
|
¢
Donate for the Silent and
Live Auctions. A week in your 'second home' or Bed &
Breakfast, treat someone to your talents (home
decorating / design,
portraiture, a night out at your
restaurant for 8 - you get the idea, be creative), a piece of your
artwork, or anything else you have to offer. Contact
Tracey
for details on how you can help make Asheville's greatest
auction even better.
¢
Volunteer to help with the planning
and "night-of" opportunities for the 2008 Raise Your Hand
Auction at the Grove Park Inn and Spa. Contact
Chris or
Tracey and get your name on the list! |
|
More Information on the Auction will
be added as it becomes available;
including items to be up for bid. Please check

Raise Your Hand 2007 – A Sold-out
Success!
The
banging of the gavel by this year’s auctioneer Matt Holiday meant a huge
success for the sold out benefit for the Western North Carolina AIDS
Project (WNCAP). Over $80,000 was raised by this year’s gala in the
Grand Ballroom of the Historic Grove Park Inn. There was energetic
bidding from the very beginning as the crowd vied for treasured art
pieces from Western North Carolina’s top artisans, catered dinners in
your home, valued gift certificates from local businesses and exciting
vacation packages. This year’s crowd hovered over their Silent Auction
selections hoping that their bid would be the last on many of the filled
up bid sheets when the clock ticked down to close off that section. The
top art piece sold was by Gallery Minerva artist Eleanor Miller and a
trip down Mexico way added another $2,500 to the final totals. This
year’s Signature Piece by acclaimed artist Steven Forbes-deSoule brought
150% of its’ original value.
This
year’s Honorary Chair, Deborah Miles, Executive Director of the Center
for Diversity Education, provided the attendees with additional insight
into the need for a better understanding and acceptance of all those in
our universe. In addition, a special feature of this year’s auction was
a “Fund in Need” challenge to the enthusiastic crowd, to help furnish
the new “Client Resource Center” located in WNCAP’s future home. As a
result of raising $15,400 during this segment, clients can be assured of
having ready access to TVs, computers, telephones and a library for
their very own use. The evening was topped off by the jazz stylings of
the Kat Williams Experience for the late night crowd.

A special thanks to
this year’s RYH Chair,
Tracey Whitehouse and
the entire Fundraising Committee
for a job well done.
